Engineer in Machine Systems for Marine Vessels
Are you an engineer with experience in machine systems and an interest in marine vessels? Do you have good collaboration skills and experience working in project form? Do you want to work on qualified projects aimed at making Sweden and the world safer? Then you might be the one we are looking for.
About the Position
As an engineer in machine systems, you will have the opportunity to work on exciting and varied projects that span the entire lifecycle of ships and boats – from new construction and upgrades to modifications and maintenance. As a machine engineer, you will be involved in planning, specifying, and following up on production and deliveries to the Swedish Armed Forces.
Your tasks will also include requirements management, creating technical specifications, and ensuring that the delivery of documents and drawings meets the required quality. Your responsibilities will also involve leading or participating in technical investigations, finding solutions and designs to ensure that the materials are functional for their intended purposes. You will also keep up with technological developments and stay updated on innovations and changes in governing regulatory requirements for the relevant area. Participation in technology development with academia, industry, and other European countries is a growing need for us. The work is performed both independently and in close collaboration with colleagues, the Armed Forces, and suppliers.
The position is based in Stockholm, with travel occurring both domestically and internationally.
About You
We are looking for someone who is a trained civil or university engineer in mechanical engineering, propulsion systems, or marine systems, or who has acquired a competence that we consider equivalent. To succeed in this role, you need to have several years of experience in machine and propulsion systems, be comfortable with project work, and have good knowledge of both Swedish and English. You also need to have an understanding of mechanical engineering and propulsion-related theories and principles, as well as being accustomed to working with the Office suite in your daily work.
It is advantageous if you have experience working in a marine environment at sea and if you have previously worked on translating operational requirements into clear technical specifications. If you also have experience in hull design, structural construction, or ship production, this is a clear advantage. We also view positively if you have good knowledge of technical solutions in the area and their operational use. Overall knowledge of classification societies' standards and regulatory requirements in shipbuilding is valuable, as well as an understanding of ventilation, fire integrity, weight distribution, ship stability, shock, and vibration. These experiences give you a broader system understanding and enhance your ability to contribute to comprehensive solutions of high quality.
Personal qualities are very important to us. We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds and experiences and are looking for someone who enjoys collaborating with others while also being self-driven and taking responsibility for driving your processes forward. You have good judgment and the ability to make well-founded trade-offs and priorities in your work. You also value high quality in what you do and work with a clear drive towards set goals, focusing on delivering results.
